Stratton's base area bustled last week with shop staffers trying out next year's skis and boards. Rain midweek gave way to snow on Thursday, Feb. 7, helping to restore good conditions on the trails and good spirits among the people. Shopkeepers are making decisions right now about what they'll stock next year. Several days of snow has helped bring winter back to resorts across northern New England, including Stratton. The area reminds skiers and riders that the X2 Express Card is on sale until Feb. 15, costs $79, includes one free (nonholiday) day of skiing, and reduced prices on other lift tickets. Holders receive $30 off midweek prices, $20 off weekends, and $10 off holidays.
