Obermeyer Capitol Shell review. OnTheSnow reviewed this ski jacket as part of its men's 2015/2016 Jacket Buyers' Guide.

Favorite Features: Obermeyer’s backcountry offering felt more suited for a day at the resort, utilizing heavier materials than most shells. Even so, the Capitol impressed with its stylish design, adjustable hood and lengthy pit zips.

Room for Improvement: The non-existent powder skirt and wrist gaiters could leave some backcountry skiers feeling short changed; If you plan on charging the deep, we’d recommend a full-bib pant to compensate.

Fit: The medium (U.S. M) tested fit perfectly on someone who normally wears a large. The Capitol Shell provided plenty of mobility and room to layer; consider sizing down if you are looking for an athletic fit.

Manufacturer Description: The Capitol is NOT a dainty rain shell made out of paper. This bombproof shell is built for charging through the thickest tree runs and lined in a light fleece for added warmth. We have done away with the crunchy fabric most shells are known for and incorporated our 30K shell fabric. Waterproof YKK zippers offer all weather protection from spring wet flakes to the coldest descents and the articulated patterning is perfect for unrestricted mobility and easy layering.
