Heartland Warm Trend Sets A New Record

It's been above average temperature across the upper tier of the Heartland for at least a month now. Cities from Minneapolis through Chicago and Detroit recently reported above average temperatures for a record straight 30 days. Its been particularly hard on ski areas on the east side of Lake Michigan, but even Terry Peak, located in the Black Hills in western South Dakota, has been hard hit. Perched near 7,000 feet above sea level – highest elevated ski area in the Heartland – it currently has been able to open only about 35-percent of its terrain. Mother Nature, call home the Midwest needs you. Most ski area operators are saying it's the worst winter weather they've seen in a long, long time.
