Livigno is celebrating the 70s in its week-long Free Heel Fest March 20-27.

The resort will be filled with cultural events from that decade, including a film festival, dance competition in '70s costume, themed dinners on the mountain, photographic exhibition, concert in the main square, and an open-air barbecue.

You'll see the long and heavy '70s-style skis worn by people in jeans and turtle neck sweaters on the slopes. There will be parties, punk, discos, and competitions throughout the resort.

Visitors can sign up to participate in the festival in advance this year by signing up to the Web site.

Livigno - home of champion Giorgio Rocca - offers 185 kilometres of slopes for all levels served by more than 30 modern lifts, a long track for cross-country skiing which runs through the valley, and two top snowparks. The ski area hosts high-level sports competitions, which attract famous athletes from around the world.

There are more than 100 hotels, 1250 apartments, bed and breakfasts, and inns for every budget. For après-ski skiers are spoiled for choice: pubs, wine bars, nightclubs, ten pin bowling, billiards, and hotel spas. The Tourist Promotion Agency organises lots of events throughout the season.
