Lost Trail raised their tickets prices a few dollars, but the resort is still an inexpensive place to ski.

Lost Trail Powder Mountain, located in the Bitterroot Mountains of Western Montana, is known as a great family ski hill. The day-use area straddles the top of the Continental Divide at 8,200 feet tumbling a few runs into Idaho.

It is still a place where you can take a family of four skiing for under $120. The ticket prices inched up a couple dollars this year, but still tally up far below the big regional resorts. Full day tickets for adults bumped up to $34 and children's tickets to $24.

The family-owned ski area is known for dependable snow and uncrowded slopes. However, just because it is named "Lost Trail" doesn't mean you'll be lost. Good signage and a clear trail map point you down its 45 trails. You can carve down its longest runs—Sacajewea or Lewis and Clark—or head to the short steeps of Femur Ridge.

Lost Trail Powder Mountain is only open four days each week—Thursdays through Sundays. Snow piles up untouched during the early part of each week, making Thursday the day to play hooky and hit its pristine powder. Call (406) 821-3211 to check on conditions.
