There's more to having fun in the snow than doing laps on your favorite ski lift. You'll have the opportunity to do so come Jan. 12. Royal Gorge (royalgorge.com), Kirkwood Nordic (Kirkwood.com), Bear Valley Cross Country (bearvalleyxc.com), Granlibakken (granlibakken.com), and Tahoe Cross Country (tahoexc.org) are among the numerous North American locales taking part in the annual Winter Trails Day promotion. Winter Trails Day, now in its 13th year, offers children and adults new to snow sports the chance to try snowshoeing and cross-country skiing for free.
