Strafe Nomad Jacket review. OnTheSnow reviewed this shell jacket as part of its 2016/2017 Jacket Buyers' Guide.

Favorite Features: The Nomad is Strafe’s original jacket, which is probably why this offering feels so dialed. The longer cut of the Nomad gives the jacket a freeride look, while features like waterproof/breathable “eVent” fabric deliver backcountry performance. Long, easy-to-reach pit zips, removable powder skirt and elastic wrist gaiters were just a few of the features we came to love on the Nomad.

Room for Improvement: The colorway choices are fun but give off a vest-like vibe due to the block coloring on the arms and chest.

Fit: Consider sizing down—the size medium tested fit perfectly on someone who normally wears a size large. The Nomad felt roomy in the shoulders but nice and snug through the trunk. Overall, a great fit.

On-Snow Performance: We knew the Nomad was a sharp looking jacket out of the box, but once we got it on the slopes, its curb appeal really shined. The generous length and roominess through the trunk allowed for plenty of layering. Although we felt the bottom hem to be a bit snug for our liking, the Nomad moved well with the skier.

Manufacturer Description: The Nomad is the original Strafe jacket, designed and refined with direct input from our athletes. It’s built from a heavy duty waterproof/breathable eVent® fabric to provide our highest level of durability and protection while maintaining critical breathability for hard wearing dependability throughout full seasons of the hardest use. It has a longer and fuller cut, with ample storage and vents which have been carefully updated to maximize its utility.
